Care

At The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone, we aim to provide our residents with professional, high-quality care within a safe and homely environment. Through this approach, our residents have the ability to live freely and independently, making their own personal choices. We pride ourselves on our social activities, which we feel are very important: we have our own activities co-ordinator who organises a variety of activities in the home, along with visits by professional entertainers and outings to local venues. Our primary focus is on promoting physical and mental well-being among all our residents and providing them with the support they need to lead interesting and fulfilling lives. Dignity and respect are extremely important when it comes to the care we provide to our residents; we aim to give them all the support and assistance they need, whilst ensuring they are able to remain as independent as possible.

Staff

The carers at The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone are hand-picked by our recruitment team for their attitude and experience. Each member of our team undergoes comprehensive training upon joining us and attends additional training courses on an ongoing basis, to ensure they stay up to date with the latest developments and practices. They are trained in infection control, first aid, care for people living with dementia and safe moving & handling practices

Facilities

All of our residents’ bedrooms have a nurse call bell, are decorated to a high standard and are fully furnished, containing a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet and armchair. We have both en suite rooms and rooms that share a well-equipped bathroom with other residents. We also have a passenger lift that stops on all floors and a variety of specialist equipment to help us take good care of our residents. To enable residents to relax and socialise when they do not want to sit in their rooms, we have a large lounge area and an easily-accessible outdoor garden space. Meals are served in a separate dining area for the convenience of residents and there is a visitors' parking area on-site so family and friends can drop by whenever they wish.

Food & Drink

We serve breakfast, lunch and high tea to our residents on a daily basis. In addition to these 3 meals, snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. We follow a seasonal menu that offers residents a choice of dishes for every meal, with all dishes being homemade and freshly prepared. The menu changes every 4 weeks and is designed to provide residents with a well-balanced diet that includes all the vitamins and nutrients they need. Our menus may vary slightly depending on the client’s needs/likes. Please feel free to take a look at our Summer Menu.

My father spent his remaining time at The Oast and we found the staff and service very efficient and friendly. Over the last few years, the home has undergone a lot of refurbishment work which has resulted in a wonderful environment. I'd thoroughly recommend this home to anyone looking for peace of mind for their loved ones to be taken care of.

By Darren S (Son of Resident) 30/05/2018, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

My dad enjoyed his time at The Oast before sadly passing away. The staff have been brilliant, not only to my dad but the rest of the family. When visiting, we have been made to feel very welcome. There are lots of activities for the residents to enjoy. My dad had a lovely room and he enjoyed the food. We would like to thank the staff for all their support.

By C W (Daughter of Resident) 29/05/2018, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

Mum became a resident in September 2017 after no longer being able, or wishing to live alone. She now seems a lot happier and feels safe and secure at all times. And we feel reassured that she is surrounded by friendly, caring and very approachable staff 24/7 which gives us peace of mind that Mum is well cared for and respected. Thank you to the manager and all the staff at The Oast.

By Keith P (Son of Resident) 08/05/2018, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

My father was a resident for the last six months and sadly passed away this weekend. We have nothing but praise for the care which he received in The Oast especially since his return from the hospital. He was quite content there and all the staff were very caring towards him. They have a lovely new conservatory which unfortunately he was too ill to use.The manager and all her staff are really professional and very approachable.

By Pauline K (Daughter of Resident) 17/04/2019, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

My Dad had one week's respite care in May 2017. The staff were very warm and welcoming at all times. They ensured he joined in activities which he really enjoyed. His room was light and airy. Dad has vascular dementia and can be very unsettled but he was well looked after and was fine. When we picked him up after his week's stay he said: "I want to leave my case here for next time I come". I think that shows how happy he was at The Oast.

By G G (Son-in-Law of Resident) 17/05/2016, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

Since becoming a resident my mother-in-law has improved not only physically but mentally too she seems to enjoy life so much more, there's a contentment and feeling of happiness I've not seen for a long time, she has everything she needs warmth, friends, good food, respect and a warmth of caring that runs deep in all the staff, they give so much to all those at the home. If all homes were run like The Oast old age would hold no fear for anyone, I hold a deep respect for all who work at The Oast.

By James G (Son of Resident) 10/05/2016, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

The Oast is well managed, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The residents in general seem happy and are well cared for. I would recommend The Oast to anyone, knowing their loved ones would be well cared for.

By Valerie (Daughter of Resident) 28/04/2016, The Oast Residential Care Home in Maidstone

My Godmother has just passed away after being in The Oast for nearly 3 years. I have to say I would happily go into The Oast when my turn comes. It is, without doubt, the best Care Home in the South East, the Manager and staff are truly caring and compassionate and when my Godmother was dying someone was with her and holding her hand right up to the end. Whenever she wanted something they would go above and beyond to supply it for her and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. Can't praise them highly enough.
